My work has developed through a sequence of ideas, experiments, tools and products. Some began as personal projects; others grew out of practical problems I encountered during my Management Engineering studies or while teaching technical subjects.
The pattern has remained consistent: understand the problem, learn what is missing, build a first working version and add structure as the work grows more complex.
2014–2018
HereGone was my first attempt to turn a digital idea into a product. I learned Java and SQL, designed user flows and data structures and built an early implementation. The original Java code and SQL database schema remain available.
In 2016, I also took part in StartCup and StartCApp. The project taught me both the value of making an idea testable and the cost of building without enough structure.

2018–2023
After HereGone, I continued learning by building smaller systems. To organise BackPic’s first visual prototype, I wrote a Java application that combined interface screenshots with metadata from an Excel index, helping me manage a growing set of screens.
During my Management Engineering studies, I also created a Microsoft Access/VBA prototype for managing restaurant tables and orders.
These projects gave me a practical way to apply concepts from software engineering, information systems and databases, all of which are reflected in my academic record.
2023–2026
My work teaching logistics and technical subjects introduced a different kind of problem: recurring tasks that could be made clearer, more consistent and easier to trace.
I designed and maintained a relational Notion workspace connecting lesson planning, classes, documents, calendars and assessment workflows. In the Project Management course for ITS Logistica Sostenibile, I also introduced students to Notion, covering pages, databases, relations, formulas, views and filters.
Alongside this, I designed an Excel course around practical exercises and built a collection of Excel/VBA tools for generating multiple versions of tests, producing answer keys, calculating grades and working with structured data.
The collection includes a test generator, a test grading calculator, an oral assessment calculator, a personal finance simulator and a gambling simulator.
During the same period, I also designed courses on entrepreneurship, startup development and personal finance, turning product ideas, decision-making and risk into material that students could explore through practical examples.
Concept 2018 · Active development 2024
BackPic began as a concept for shared photo and video diaries and has grown into the most complex product I have taken on.
I developed the concept and UX, created a visual prototype spanning more than 230 screens and began active software development in 2024. BackPic is now a working cross-platform product.
I continue to define product direction and requirements, review progress and make the final product decisions.
As BackPic grew more complex, maintaining coherence across tasks, sources, dependencies, decisions and verification became a challenge in its own right.
I built a custom development system to connect these elements across long-running projects and make the work easier to direct, review and continue.
AI assistance allows me to take on more complex work, while product direction, priorities, review and final responsibility remain mine.
March 2026
Compass grew from a related need: preserving the context and reasoning behind complex decisions.
It brings analyses, sources, timelines, KPIs and decisions into one navigable environment.
Structured guides, comparisons and a Decision Tracker make it easier to revisit earlier reasoning, compare alternatives and update decisions as circumstances change.
July 2026
AUDE applies the product and development approach refined through BackPic and its supporting systems to a new challenge: a multilingual knowledge game.
I define the concept, user flows, scoring and content system while developing the Flutter app and Firebase backend using AI-assisted workflows.
I am preparing it for public testing.
The work above is closely connected to both my studies and my teaching.
My master’s thesis examined the path from an idea to a software product through the lens of project management and remains available in English and Italian.
Part of that research later provided the academic foundation for the Project Management course I designed and taught. The thesis, course programme and all six teaching modules are now brought together on a single page.
The same learn-by-building approach extends beyond software. It also appears in the practical experiences collected in About, in SketchUp projects for furniture and vehicles and in selected photography and video work.
